5 common goals

We are a unique company in many respects, and difficult to compare with other undertakings. Because for us it is not about maximising profits but about generating enough revenue for financial break-even. Our focus is on sustaining everyday life for all of us who live in Greenland. We do that by supplying energy and groceries to all regions of the country. But at the same time, we are also a company who engage in many of Greenland’s large and small communities, so that we work together to build a more resilient and self-sufficient nation.

It is a given for us to build on our centuries of experience in supplying Greenland, and adding new solutions and changes to bring us into the future. This is why we have created a number of new goals that set the direction for the whole of the KNI group. Our goals are inspired by our customers, our employees and our daily life, and they address how we can promote quality of life and sustainable development in all parts of the country.

Financial break-even

KNI’s finances must be coherent and balanced.

This means that the company must not generate more revenue than needed for sustaining the company and fulfilling its core purposes and obligations. The surplus we generate is reinvested in our infrastructure, systems and human resources, so that KNI can provide its core services.

A dynamic and attractive place to work

KNI shall be a dynamic workplace where change is welcome.

Where we prioritise ambitiously for the long term rather than underperforming in the short term. Our work environment shall be healthy and productive so that we can fulfil our public service obligation for Greenland supply in work together efficiently across our entities and locations.

A stronger foundation for change

We will create a better foundation for change within KNI by upgrading our core processes and developing the company’s digital solutions to support our business and future growth.

For many years, realising changes within KNI has been hampered by a lack of modern digital solutions for supporting the business. This has been a barrier to future growth.

We need to be able to unlock the potentials open to us for generating new revenue and business. For this reason, we will be adopting enhanced digital solutions and focusing on developing our business processes. At the same time, we will be offering a wide range of online training programmes focused on upskilling employees for day-to-day business administration. In this way, our dedicated staff will be able to pursue a career with KNI wherever they live and work in Greenland.

Growth through adaptation and innovation

We will generate growth by developing new or existing business areas.

We are targeting our efforts on innovation and development of our own-brand Greenlandic products within outdoor wear through Meqqusaalik and within interior décor through KNI Design. At the same time, we will be expanding our wholesale operations through KNI Engros with more robust full-service solutions and new partnerships.

A healthier, more resilient Greenland

We believe that everyone has the right to a good and healthy life.

And that this is a also an important foundation for a sustainable society. This is why we have a special focus on public health promotion. We provide inspiration for leading a healthy lifestyle in physical and mental balance based on our Greenlandic diet, culture and values so that both customers and employees can relate to our healthy eating inspiration as realistic options.
