Pilersuisoq

A supermarket with a difference

Pilersuisoq is KNI’s grocery retail chain with 67 stores distributed across the whole of Greenland. We are responsible for supplying a selection of groceries and consumer goods at the best possible price to our customers. The aim is not for KNI to maximise its profits, but to ensure a responsible balance between the cost price we pay for a product, and what we sell it on for.

Although the supply of groceries and consumer goods is our primary focus, we have other tasks to fulfil as well. These are focused on public health promotion and on doing our part to keep the Greenlandic environment cleaner. We also aim to make a positive contribution to community life on every scale.

OUR BUILDING BLOCKS

Supply and price guarantees on essential commodities

A special commitment by our Pilersuisoq stores in outlying villages is guaranteeing stocks of everyday essentials such as food staples, over-the-counter medicines, personal care products, and hunting and fishing equipment. These essential commodities cost the same in all the stores, regardless of how long it takes to transport them to the different locations. The price is also the same if a store runs out of an essential item, which has to be flown in, because we cover the added cost ourselves.

Mamarisavut.gl – our Greenlandic healthy lifestyle universe

We believe that everyone has the right to healthy, tasty meals, wherever they happen to live in Greenland. Through our ‘healthy eating’ website, Mamarisavut.gl, we share easy recipes for meals for all ages, and inspiration for celebrations, traditions and a healthy lifestyle. The recipes are based on the food staples we stock in our stores, combined with meat, fish and seafood sourced locally. That way, everyone in Greenland, in any location, can enjoy the recipes.

Meqqusaalik

Meqqusaalik outdoor wear is designed by KNI in Sisimiut. The aim is to make durable, quality garments suited to Arctic conditions and at a price everyone can afford. The clothes are always tested and adapted in consultation with the local population. Meqqusaalik outdoor wear is sold at all Pilersuisoq stores, and starting from the third quarter of 2023 will also be available to buy from meqqusaalik.gl, our online store.

KNI Design

In addition to supplying vital consumer goods and fuels, KNI also crafts home décor inspired by our proud Inuit culture and traditions. KNI Design is décor for the home, for everyday life and for all who love our shared Greenlandic cultural heritage.

Quality products at reasonable prices

We have a clear policy on the goods we offer for sale: they must be made responsibly, conform to quality standards and comply with requirements regarding human and animal safety, and environmental protection. One of our groceries suppliers is REMA 1000, who are known throughout the Nordic region for their quality products at reasonable prices. We also sell new products and home décor from KNI Design, which we develop in-house at KNI, inspired by the Greenlandic culture and natural environment.

We are responsible for supplying wholesale goods to private-sector and public-sector organisations in Greenland. We ensure a wide selection of products adapted to each particular customer at competitive prices. We dispatch goods from hubs to the whole of Greenland to meet everyday needs.
